Mobile OT Therapies
A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO SKILL DEVELOPMENT
Building Skills for Life, Confidence for the Future
-
Fine Motor Skills – which refers to someone’s ability to control small movements of the hands and fingers. OTs may work on hand and finger strength, dexterity, motor planning and bilateral coordination to more easily participate in daily tasks
-
Gross Motor Skills – which is about the larger muscle groups (arms, legs, core) that are needed for posture, balance and coordination. We help work on these things, as well as strength and motor planning to be able to participate in outdoor activities and games.
-
Self Care and Self Management Tasks – we help to increase independence in daily tasks such as bathing, dressing and using utensils, as well as packing a school bag, or organising resources.
-
School and Workplace Readiness – this may include developing suitable routines, assisting with transitions, increasing attention and concentration and helping people feel safe in their environments.
-
Emotional Regulation – helping teach people how to recognise and identify emotions within themselves and others, and how to manage these in daily life, particularly in the presence of stressors or anxieties.
-
Social Skills – helping people communicate and interact with others in an age appropriate way. This can include both verbal and non verbal communication skills such as speech, tone of voice, facial expressions and body language.
-
Sensory Processing – help to interpret or respond to sensory input (whether that’s touch, sight, sound, smell, taste or movement) so that sensory preferences do not interfere with daily life. We help to put strategies in place that will promote integration of sensory input into routines.|
-
Visual Perception – this relates to the brain’s ability to interpret and understand visual information. These are important skills for many daily tasks such as navigating environments, reading, memory, finding items that may be missing.
-
Mental Health and Neurodivergent Therapy – using a holistic, strengths based approach to help client’s with developing routines or coping strategies, managing their triggers and helping them to engage in meaningful activities.
